January weather oddBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in the Nevada County Picayune January was an odd month weather-wise, with temperatures ranging from mild to cold. According to Prescott weather watcher Phillip McAdams, the highest temperature recorded for the month was a balmy 73 degrees on Jan. 3. On the other hand, he said, the low plummeted to a frigid 18 on Jan. 7-8. Cale meteorologist Davis Benton said the mercury climbed to 75 degrees at its highest and dropped to 18 for the month's low. It was also an odd month for rain. For the most part, what rain fell, arrived all at once. McAdams said Prescott received 4.55 inches during January, while the Cale area had 5.10 inches. McAdams said 3.71 inches fell on Jan. 24, with 0.62 inch on Jan. 16 and the remaining 0.22 inch on Jan. 1, 8 and 14. According to Benton, 4.05 inches fell on Jan. 24.
