Prescott's Wolverettes split games with Fouke and Nashville last week, winning against the Lady Panthers, but falling to the Scrapperettes.

In Tuesday's game, Feb. 3, the Wolverettes posted a relatively easy 48-24 win over the Lady Panthers, pretty much having their way with Fouke's team.

The game opened with Fouke taking the tip and scoring. This was the only time the Lady Panthers would see a lead in the contest.

From there, the Wolverettes opened fire and went on an 11-2 run to close the first period with an 11-4 lead.

Fouke opened the second quarter by hitting a trey, but this only served to irritate the Wolverettes, as Prescott's defense stiffened and only allowed the visitors to score five more points in the period.

Prescott did have problems with the Lady Panther defense, as Fouke double teamed the ball, regardless of where it was on the court. If Prescott had the pumpkin, two Lady Panthers were close by. This kept the score from being even more lopsided than it was.

Halftime arrived with the Wolverettes in control 21-12.

Prescott opened the second half with a 6-0 run, which resulted in Fouke slowing the pace and holding onto the ball. However, the Lady Panthers couldn't buy a bucket on a bet for the most part, while the Wolverettes looked to run at every opportunity.

A Wolverette bucket at the buzzer put Prescott up 40-18 at the end of three.

Prescott continued having its way against the hapless Lady Panthers and led 44-18 with 6:38 left in the game. Coach Jody Cowart began clearing the bench to get the younger players minutes in the game. The subs did well, keeping the Lady Panthers from making a serious run.

The Wolverettes were five of 11 from the line, while Fouke hit two of four free throws.

Daloris Steuart led all scorers with 24, while Tammy Harris chipped in 12 for Prescott.

Fouke was led by the trio of Warren, Helms and Ames, each with six points.

On Friday, Feb. 6, Prescott simply couldn't buy a break against the Scrapperettes and fell 49-40, though the Wolverettes had several opportunities to pull off the win.

The Wolverettes opened the game with a 5-2 run, only to see the Scrapperettes come back and take a 10-9 lead with 2:19 left in the first quarter. Nashville outscored Prescott 5-2 during this time, and led 15-11 at the end of one.

Prescott scored first in the second to cut the lead to 15-13, and stayed close throughout the night. Both teams played solid defense, making each point difficult and earned. There were no "gimmes" in the game.

Halftime arrived with Prescott on the short end of a 27-21 score.

Period three opened on a sour note as the Wolverettes turned the ball over, resulting in a bucket for Nashville.

Despite playing hard, the Wolverettes found it nearly impossible to score consistently from the field or the free throw line. At the end of three, the Scrapperettes held a 38-25 lead.

Both teams made mistakes in the fourth quarter as the game got ugly. Tammy Harris was nailed going in for a layup with 6:35 showing and converted a pair of free throws for the first points in the period. This cut the lead to 38-27.

The Wolverettes battled, getting withing five at 40-35, with 3:41 to go, but couldn't get over the hump, as Nashville held on for the win.
