TFSC will be closingBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in the Gurdon Times No official news has been stated by the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), concerning the Therapeutic Family Services Center (TFSC). In the January 28 edition of the Gurdon Times it was reported of several citizens voicing concerns for their safety at the recent city council meeting. The council, mayor and city marshal agreed to compose letters to DHS and the Department of Youth Services (DYS). However, hearsay was around town, the center had been closed. After several phone calls to DHS and no returned phone calls, it was finally reported by Mike McKenzie, a member of the center's board of directors, the facility would be closed down. McKenzie said on Thursday the center was closing down and not because DHS or any other agency, but by the people in charge of the facility.
