Prescott's senior teams made short work of the Gurdon Go-Devils Tuesday, Jan. 20.

The Wolves and Wolverettes made the short road trip, with the Wolverettes posting a 61-49 win, while the boys hammered the Devils 66-48.

WOLVES 66

DEVILS 48

Gurdon has had trouble winning at home all year, and Prescott's visit didn't improve things for the Devils as the Wolves posted a 66-48 win.

The Wolves, though, played down to the level of their opponents in this game.

Prescott was in control from the outset as the Devils were unable to connect from the field. With 6:17 showing the Wolves led 6-2 and never looked back.

Prescott utilized its speed to run up and down the court and built an 18-9 lead at the end of one.

It was more of the same in the second quarter, with the Wolves being put in the bonus situation with 6:10 left in the half, and leading 25-12.

The Devils showed more ability to score in the second frame, but trailed 35-22 when the buzzer sounded ending the half.

Prescott maintained its 12-point lead in the third quarter, though the Devils did try and make a battle of it, primarily using a full and half court press. Gurdon went on a 9-0 run in the last 2:30 of the third and cut Prescott's lead to 55-46 at the start of the fourth quarter.

However, the Wolves decided to play ball and held Gurdon to two points for the remainder of the game, while clearing the bench and getting most players some minutes.

Robert Malone was the game's leading scorer with 27 for the Wolves. A.J. Lewis followed with 10.

Lavon Laster paced Gurdon with 20, while Randy Bell chipped in 18.

The Wolves hit 15 of 21 free throws, while the Devils were three of 10 at the line.

WOLVERETTES 61

LADY DEVILS 49

Prescott's Wolverettes were less than gracious guests as they whipped the Lady Devils 61-49.

Prescott jumped all over Gurdon in the first period and never looked back. At the end of one, the Wolverettes were in control 21-3, building this to a 35-14 lead at halftime.

The 20-point margin remained intact in the third quarter as Prescott's lead was 48-28.

At this point, Wolverette Coach Jody Cowart emptied the bench, getting every player minutes on the court. This allowed the Lady Devils to outscore Prescott 21-13, but it was a case of too little, too late.

The Wolverettes were 12 of 20 from the line, while the Lady Devils connected on 10 of 20 free throws.

Tammy Harris was the game's leading scorer with 23 for the Wolverettes, while Daloris Steuart chipped in 15.

Marquita Box and Jareka Henry scored 10 each for Gurdon.
