Jodie ParrPublished Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneJodie Carolyn Higginbotham Parr, 70, of Royal, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at a hospital in Texarkana. Mrs. Parr was born May 17, 1933, in Caney. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Royal. Jodie taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for many years. Mrs. Parr was preceded in death by husband, John M. Parr; son John "Ray" Parr; daughter Pamela Parr; her parents T.B. and Fannie Higginbotham; and sister Lillian Hopson. Survivors include her grand-daughter, Julia Parr Stevens and husband David; one great-great-grandchild Lillian Grace Stevens; one sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Dr. Arlis Loe of Texarkana; nieces Melanie Loe of Dallas, Angela Loe Kincade of Memphis, Donna McKelvy of Prescott; nephews David Loe of Dallas, Duane Hopson of Anchorage. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, at Caruth Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, with Bro. George Lynch officiating. Burial was at 1 p.m. in Caney Cemetery in Prescott, at the intersection of Highway 299 and Cale Road. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, under direction of Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
