Arrest made in City Hall burglary

Clark County Sheriff, Troy Tucker, reported on Friday, January 16, 2004, an arrest had been made in a burglary of the Gum Springs City Hall.

On Thursday, January 15, the Clark County Sheriff's office received a report that a burglary had been committed at the Gum Springs City Hall and Water Department.

According to reports, employees of the city noticed entry had been made to the building through a window in the rear and the door to the water department had been entered using an unknown instrument.

Clark County Investigators arrived on the scene and began a burglary investigation.

According to the Sheriff's report, later in the day on Thursday, investigators had gathered enough evidence and searched a Gum Springs residence. After finding evidence linked to the case, Morgan Sullivan, 24, of Gum Springs was arrested. He is currently being held in the Clark County Detention Facility.

Information has been referred to Prosecuting Attorney Henry Morgan of charges of commercial burglary, which is a Class C felony and theft of Property a Class A misdemeanor. A class C felony carries a penalty of no less than three year and no more than 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a class A misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
