Vernon BuchanonPublished Wednesday, January 14, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneVernon Buchanan, 91, of Texarkana, Tex., passed away Sunday, January 11, 2004. Vernon was born April 5, 1912, in Prescott, the son of W.K. and Kate (Kreider) Buchanon. Mr. Buchanan was a salesman and store manager for Crow-Burlingame and a farmer. He was a deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Prescott and served as former City Councilman of Prescott. Survivors include, two daughters, Jean Buchanan of Texarkana, Tex., and Marion Jonston of Ashdown; two grandchildren, Eddy Johnston of Ashdown and Andy Johnston of Texarkana, Tex.; four great-grandchildren, Drew Johnston, Jeremy Johnston, Marissa Johnston and Wade Johnston. Graveside services were Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. at DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
