Shortie Carlton

Mr. Shortie Carlton, 81, of Emmet, died Sunday, December 7, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital.

He was born September 7, 1922, in Nevada Co. to Elbert and Exie Faye Barham Carlton.

He was a retired heavy equipment transporter with more than 28 years with the Arkansas State Highway Department and a cattle rancher. He was a member of Forrest Hills Baptist Church, Nevada County, a Navy Veteran and a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Freda Cole Carlton of Emmet; two sons, Jerry Carlton of Hope and Jimmy Allen Carlton of Prescott; two daughters, Carolyn Carlton of Hempstead, Tex. and Judy Carlton Kirk of Prescott; one brother, William "Sonny Boy" Carlton of Midland, Tex.; one sister, Mattie Nell Carlton of Louisiana; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2003, Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Rev. Donnie Dillard and Rev. Ed Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Harmony Cemetery in Sutton. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Wednesday, December 10, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
