Rosston's City Council meeting was short and to the point, with the council members getting business done and getting out.

Of course, there wasn't much business to be done at the end of the year, but the community's governing body did approve budgets for the city's general fund and water department for 2004.

According to the budget, the street department has anticipated revenues of $15,596, with $23,434 expected from the state. Anticipated revenue from Nevada County is $6,000, while miscellaneous monies expected were set at $5,000. The total anticipated budget for 2004 is 50,030.

Anticipated revenue for the city's water budget was set at $96,000.

The expected expenses include $4,132 for Arkansas Soil and Water; $1,008 for Debt Service Reserve; $13,044 for Debt Service Fund; $300 for the Depreciation Reserve; $700 for DPC; $5,000 for Sales Tax, $800 for the expected purchase of water meters; $1,000 for miscellaneous needs; $13,000 for labor; $1,000 for extra labor; and $3,660.40 for employee insurance.

This will leave $52,355.60 for the department to operate on for the year.

Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson said the financial statement presented to the council wasn't accurate. This is because the bank statement isn't in when the meeting is scheduled.

To correct the situation, the council voted to change its meeting time from the first Monday of each month to the second Monday of each month, starting in January. This, Jackson said, will give the city recorder/treasurer time to get the information to properly do the financial statement.
