Thurman WrightPublished Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Thurman Wright, 71, longtime resident of Hope, died Sunday, December 7, 2003, in a Texarkana hospital. Thurman was born November 39, 1932, in Hempstead County. He retired as First Lieutenant with the Arkansas Highway Police after 26 years of exemplary service with numerous commendations. He may best be remembered for Wright's Greenhouse, a local nursery. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hope, where he was a deacon since January 26, 1975, and a devoted Christian who loved his church and church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ruby DeVenney Wright, and one sister, Melva Collins. His survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Betty Jean Bittle Wright of Hope; threes sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. Mark and Misty Wright of Texarkana, Brad and Suzie Wright of Springdale and Doyle Wright of Fayetteville; two brothers, Terrell Wright of Odessa, Tex., and Harold Wright of Hope; seven grandchildren, Kyle and Jamie Wright of Austin, Tex., Jackie and Hayden Wright of Texarkana, Trevor Edmondson of Texarkana, Stephanie and Sarah Wright of Springdale and a number of other relatives and many close friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hope with Rev. Charles Headrick and Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 9, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1301 W.
