Carney arrested for sexual assault on Gurdon teenager

On October 22, at 8:10 p.m., Gurdon Police Officer Andy Williams received a report from a sixteen year old white female that she had been sexually assaulted.

The victim told Williams, the incident occurred on the North West corner of Walnut and Second Street at around 7:30 p.m. the same evening.

The victim stated, she had been talking to some of the carnival workers who were here for the Gurdon Forest Festival, when one of them pulled a knife on her and forced her into a camping trailer. After she was forced into the trailer, another subject came and acted as a lookout while the other continued to hold a knife on the girl and told her to undress.

The victim told police, before the subject could get her clothes off of her, the watchman reported someone coming and she was released.

Williams took the statement from the girl at the GPD and was able to get a description of both suspects. Williams and City Marshal Don Childres located and arrested the suspect who was responsible for forcing the victim at knife point.

Officer's found the man at a residence just off of Third Street. He was identified as Alfred (Al) D. Penix, 42, of Mablevale. Penix was held on a felony sexual assault charge.

The other suspect was located and identified as Spencer (Scott) Graff , 22, who was detained, questioned and then released. Charges on him have not yet been filed.
