Richards wins state golf tourney, Wolves finish fifth as teamBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 29, 2003 in the Nevada County Picayune History was made by the Prescott High School golf team, as Drew Richards won the state AAA tournament at Red Apple Inn, recently. Overall, the Wolves placed fifth in the state, out of more than 50 teams. Richards fired a 2-over par 73 on the course to capture the crown, and now moves on to the state overall tournament, to be held at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock. Only medalists from the other divisions play in this tourney. Ben Hale was second for the Wolves, with Roman Richards third, Matthew Haynie fourth and Chase Haynes fifth for the team. Pulaski Academy won the tourney as a team, with Berryville second and Nashville third. As good as the Wolves have been this year on the links, the team could be even better in the 2004 season as the entire squad returns. There are no seniors on the golf team this year.
