It's time to find the best, or scariest, Halloween costumes for the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce's Halloween contest.

Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the contest will be held Oct. 31 for business and industries. There is no entry fee for this event.

However, those planning to enter need to let the Chamber know before the close of business on Oct. 30. Judges will begin going to the various businesses, industries and schools at 8 a.m. and expect to be done by noon.

There will be three categories, Godwin said, with cash prizes going to the top three finishers in each one. The categories are: individual, group and school.

From Halloween, the Chamber turns its attention to the annual Fall Fashion Show, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Potlatch Building in the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

The theme of this year's fashion show, Godwin said, is "Home for the Holidays". The show is to promote retail merchants and local businesses to show what is available locally for the holidays.

The luncheon menu will consist of chicken tortilla soup, salad, crackers, tea and bread pudding.

Along with the fashions, there will be tables showing items available in town at local businesses. There will also be small gift bags on the table for guests at the show.

Again this year, Jon Chadwell will be the Master of Ceremonies for the fashion show.

Tickets for this event are $8 and may be purchased at the Chamber office. For more information, contact Godwin at 887-2101.
