Alice WaltersPublished Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in the Gurdon TimesAlice Walters, 86, of Hope, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at her home. She was born July 27, 1917, in Richland, New Mexico, to Andrew Jackson and Minnie Ann Young DeBord. She was retired with 32 years as manager of Rephan's Department Store of Hope. She was a member of First Christian Church of Hope and a member of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. "Mutt" Walters, who died in August of 1998. Her survivors include her two sons: James E. "Jim" Walters and Pat of Garland, Tex., and Bill Walters of Hot Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Beverly Walters of Arkadelphia; and one sister, Hazel Anderson of Gurdon. Funeral services were Saturday, October 11, under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcreast Funeral Home of Hope, with Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope.
