Mattie LarsenPublished Wednesday, October 8, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMattie Faye Larsen, 95, of Hope formerly of Columbia County, died Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope. She was born May 4, 1908, in Emerson to the late Isaac Newton and Sarah Daisy Paschal McCollum. She was retired director of Social Services of Columbia County. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Emerson and attended First Presbyterian Church in Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray P. Larsen; three brothers, Elisha McCollum, Dr. John McCollum, and Charlie McCollum; two sisters, Vera Chisholm and Izora Wilson. Survivors include: three brothers, Carl McCollum of Kilgore, Tex., Joe McCollum of Twin Falls, Idaho, Ben McCollum of Ketchum, Idaho; two sisters, Jennie Beecham of Edmond, Okla., and Ida Purtle of Prescott; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Lewis Chapel Charles Purtle officiated. Burial followed in Hephzibah Cemetery. Visitation was at Lewis Funeral Home Tuesday, September 30 from 6-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Abilities Unlimited or Southern Arkansas University.
