Caddo Valley VFW offers to dispose of old U.S. flagsBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, October 8, 2003 in the Gurdon Times Needing to dispose of your old American flag? Not sure what the proper procedure of doing so is? The members of the Caddo Valley Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) want to help. As you walk in the door at the VFW, located at 295 Malvern Road, there is a box where old, worn out American flags can be placed. The members of the post will take the flags and dispose of them in the proper ceremonial fashion. Neil Ballard of Arkadelphia is commander of the post and Delton Simpson of Gurdon is Sr. Vice Commander. Anyone with questions can contact either of these men or visit the VFW. "We want to help out as much as we can. You don't burn an American flag, that isn't how they are to be disposed of. We are hoping to help as much as possible," said Simpson. "We will be riding in the Gurdon Forest Festival Parade. Anyone with questions can possibly catch up with us at that time." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
