Helen DanielsPublished Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Helen Ghormely Daniels, 81, of Prescott, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas. She was born July 27, 1922, in Laneburg, Nevada County to Joe and Era Stokes Ghormley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rosston. She was Valdictorian of Class of 1940 in Laneburg Central High School in Laneburg. She was active in church, civic, and community activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder James Chester Daniels; one son, John Edward Daniels; one brother, Paul Ghormley; one sister, Josie Ghormley and one grandson, Mark Daniels. Her survivors include: one son, Dr. Jim "Bud" Daniels and Jan of Seneca, S. Carolina; three daughters, Jan Webb and Lindell of Bossier City, La., Judy O'Keefe and Tommy of Rosston and Jeanette Goudeau and Randy of Rosston; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Daniels of Texarkana, Ark.; one brother, Bill Ghormley of Prescott; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Jim Cross officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery in Bodcaw. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Family received friends Tuesday, September 16, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
