Gurdon City Marshal Don Childres has decided to make Tenth Street in front of the primary school a One Way street.

"We plan to put the signs up today (Friday)," said Childres.

The one way will travel North and will only be in effect during the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Also during that time, Ninth and Pine Streets will be a Do Not Enter area and a sign will be posted on Beech Street directing traffic to take a left.

Tenth and Maple Streets will have signs stating that all traffic must take a right, with the exception of school buses.

"We know it is congested over there and we do not want anyone to get hurt. We don't have enough manpower at this time to keep an officer at high school and at primary school during the morning hours. Therefore, we feel this will help the problem and if not we will take further action.

"We want to remind everyone that we will be watching this area carefully during the first few weeks after it goes into effect," said Childres.
