Beulah MathisPublished Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Beulah Ross Mathis, 92, of Prescott, died Tuesday, September 1, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. She was born July 14, 1911, in Pike Co., to Abner H. and Rosetta Frasher. She had returned to school after the death of her first husband of 27 years, Gilbert Eugene Ross, and earned her nursing degree. She was a nurse for the Nevada County Hospital for 20 plus years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prescott. She remarried after retirement, Early Mathis, and they lived together for nearly eight years until he died in 1992. She is preceded in death by one brother, M. Harper Frasher and one sister, Jewel Frasher Randell. Her survivors include: one son, Dr. Gene Ross and Frances of Emmet; one grandson, U.S. Congressman Mike Ross and Holly; two grandchildren, Sydeny and Alex Ross both of Prescott, three nephews and one niece. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating. Burial followed in the Murfreesboro City Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
