White new principal at Cabe Middle SchoolBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, August 20, 2003 in the Gurdon Times Gurdon School Board members met in a special session on Monday, August 11 to announce the new Cabe Middle School principal. Recently, Jeff Alexander, former Cabe Middle School Principal resigned to take a Superintendent's position at Kirby. After reviewing several applicants, the board announced Libby White, Gurdon High School science teacher, as the new principal. White has taught at Gurdon High School for 18 years. She is married to Gurdon Alumni Jerell White and has two sons, Benji and Jamie who both graduated from Gurdon schools. When asked why she applied for the position, White said, "I received my Masters in Administration from Henderson State University about three or four years ago. I just felt as if the Lord wanted me to do this job and felt I could, then it is what I wanted to do. If he didn't feel like it was for me, then I would still be at high school." White said she and the middle school staff are looking forward to a new school year. "Everyone has been so nice and helpful so far. I enjoy their enthusiasm for the new school year. We have a motto this year. It is "Tee Up for Success."," said White. White said although she knows this is the job for her, she will miss her classroom and her students at high school.
