Wolves set schedule for fall sports

Published Wednesday, August 13, 2003 in the Nevada County Picayune

Football season is right around the corner.

The Curley Wolves will start practice in a few weeks, with the first game scheduled for Friday, September 5.

The Wolves will have five home games and be on the road five weeks of the regular football season.

Gurdon's Go-Devils will be the first test for Prescott's crew. The Devils have won the last four contests, and maintained possession of the Picayune-Times Traveling Pigskin Trophy.

This award was created in 1995, and is presented to the winning team.

Hampton's Bulldogs make the trip to Prescott on Sept. 12, with the Wolves going to Hope for a date with the Bobcats on Sept.19.

After the Hope game, the Wolves enter conference action, starting with Bismarck's Lions paying a visit to Cummins Field on Sept. 26.

October opens with the Pumpkinheads of Nashville venturing to the unfriendly confines on Oct. 3.

On Oct. 10, though, the Wolves pack up their kit bags and hit the road for a date with the De Queen Leopards, where it usually rains and the pit is a quagmire.

Fountain Lake will be Prescott's homecoming opponent on Oct. 17, with the Wolves finishing their home schedule on Oct. 24 when the Mena Bearcats come to town.

The Wolves finish the season on the road, first with a trip to Fouke to tangle with the Panthers on Halloween Night, and then to Ashdown, to meet their Panthers on Nov. 7.
