Midnight Madness strikes tonightPublished Wednesday, August 13, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMidnight madness will hit Prescott tonight. The Prescott Curley Wolf football team will suit up at midnight for the second year in a row. This is the first official time the players can hit one another during practice. So far, the players have been running non-contact drills, lifting weights and doing stretching exercises to prepare for the upcoming season. The madness will start at 10 p.m. with the senior football players and cheerleaders judging a homemade ice cream contest. Patrons are asked to make their favorite homemade ice cream recipe for this event. Once the judging is over, the ice cream will be enjoyed by all on hand. The players will be in full gear, ready to hit when the clock strikes 12 a.m. The madness will last about an hour before the team is dismissed, only to return to practice Thursday. The Maroon-White game will be played Friday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring towels, soap or blank video tapes. The video tapes are preferred as they will be used to tape the games for later viewing as well as being sent to college recruiters to showcase the players. Prescott's Curley Cubs and Wolves will be on the road for scrimmage games. The Cubs will travel to Magnolia Thursday, Aug. 28, while the Wolves will travel to Hot Springs for a date with Lakeside on Aug. 29. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
