Free Training In April And May On Researching And WritingPublished Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will offer free training on researching and writing National Register of Historic Places nominations in April and May, State Historic Preservation officer Cathy Slater of the AHPP announced. The free sessions will include information on what types of properties are eligible for recognition on the register, the process of writing a National Register nomination, and how to complete the final National Register form. The first session will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, in room 955 of the Tower Building at 323 Center St. in Little Rock. It is limited to the first 40 people who register. The second session will be held at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro on May 10 as part of a daylong workshop on historic preservation opportunities for eastern Arkansas. Both sessions are free and open to the public. For more information, you may call Randy Jeffery, National Register/survey coordinator, at 501-324-9880. The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program is the Department of Arkansas Heritage agency responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state's cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and the Arkansas Territorial Restoration.
