Almer Willis

Mr. Almer Willis, 66, of Hope, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Dubuis Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1936, in Fulton, to James Abel Ray and Josaphine Iber Martindale Willis.

He was a retired carpet layer and salesman. He was a graduate of Blevins High School. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one granddaughter, Mackenzie Grimmett.

His survivors include: his wife of 23 years, Bonita Stone Willis of Hope; four sons, Terry Willis and Gail of Hope, Chris Willis and Mandy of Washington, Spencer Willis and Yma of U.S. Air Force, and Chris Chaney of Hot Springs; two daughters, Heather Grimmett and Vince of Stamps and Stacy Faulkner and Mark of Rosston; seven brothers, Doyle Willis of Bossier City, La., Frank Willis of Irving, Tex., Fred Willis of Forrest City, Herbert Willis of Houston, Tex., Coy Willis of Modesto, Calif., Arthur Willis of Cabot, and Jimmy Willis of Irving, Tex.; three sisters, Laverne McDonald of Prescott, Shirley Reece of Harrison and Carolyn Misenheimer of Rogers; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Jay Pollan and Rev. Glen Tropp officiating. Burial was in Marlbrook Cemetery in Blevins. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family received friends Monday, July 28, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
