Roland Davidson

Roland B. Lefty' Davidson, 79, of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mr. Davidson was born in Gurdon, September 5, 1923, to the late Doyle J. and Tanie Key Davidson.

He was retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service, and was a member of Park Hill Christian Church in North Little Rock, and belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men. Along with several friends, Mrs. Davidson was allowed to graduate from high school early in 1942, to join the Army.

He served with B. Battery 335th Field Artillery Battalion, 87th Infantry in the European Theater during World War II. He served his country again in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division, one of the most decorated divisions of the Korean War. Mr. Davidson was an avid sportsman and loved to return to his hunting club in Gurdon where he was joined by family and friends.

Roland is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geneva Jean' Wilkie Davidson; daughters, Doris' Ellen Culp, and husband David, Nelda Strickland and husband Phillip, all of North Little Rock. He is also survived by grandsons, Jason Culp and wife Betsy, Cory Culp and wife Jennifer, Steven Culp, Matthew Strickland, and granddaughter, Ellen Strickland, also of North Little Rock. Mr. Davidson had two great-grandchildren; Walker and Maggie Culp of North Little Rock. Also surviving are brother, Doyle Davidson, Jr. and wife Patsy; and sister Brooksie' Read Duncan and husband Dewey, and sister in-law Mary Jane Davidson, all of North Little Rock.

Mr. Davidson's younger brother Ross preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at the Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon. Interment was in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Park Hill Christian Church building fund, 4400 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116
