Prescott physician takes over Gurdon's medical clinicBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, July 23, 2003 in the Gurdon Times Changes are being made daily to the Prescott Family Clinic's Gurdon Office, formally known as the Mercy Medical Clinic. Dr. Michael Young recently purchased the clinic with plans to offer Gurdon citizens adequate and professional health care. Young has been practicing medicine for the past 28 years and worked at the clinic before he purchased it. Young intends to use the Gurdon office as a satellite office of his Prescott office. Young will be present on Tuesdays and Dr. Roger Mason, a surgeon from Hope, will be at the office on Thursday's. Young is expecting to have more specialists present at the clinic for the patient's convenience. No major changes have been made as far as patients go. Anyone who was already considered a patient will only have to update their file. Anyone who isn't already a patient should bring in their insurance number and fill out some general information. Gilda Cox, who has worked with Young for almost as many years as he has been practicing medicine said, "We will take almost all insurance, however there are some we are not signed up with. We are excited about our Gurdon office. It will be open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will be doing a small amount of different exams and some X-rays. Basically we just changed names." Carrie Wood is the receptionist at the clinic and is gladly willing to help anyone with questions or wishing to make an appointment with the doctor.
