Services were held Thursday, September 3, for W.D. Jackson at Pine Grove AME Church with Bro. Al Yarbrough, pastor. His uncle, Rev. Andrew Banks, did the eulogy.

One of our teachers, Miss Ruth Chimley White, conducted a revival at Willisville at the Church of God in Christ. She is a wonderful speaker. She lives in Texas now. She really means what she says.

An annual homecoming was held at Mt. Vernon AME Church Sunday, September 5. Guest speaker was Rev. Clarence Reynolds with guest church being Ashdown Circuit. They have a very good choir. Rev. Chester Fort is the pastor. They really did have a lot of people there. They have a nice church in the woods. It was really nice inside. They have young people carrying on where the old ones have passed away. They had plenty of good food for everyone. I really did enjoy seeing some of Oak Grove children who went to school there. Almost everyone remembered me. I was glad to be in the number.

The Young Circuit choir sang Sunday morning. Rev. Chester Fort preached Sunday morning. He did a beautiful job.

We are getting ready for the Oak Grove alumni reunion for the year of 2000 by electing officers. If you know of someone who attended Oak Grove tell them about the meeting September 21 at 6:30 p.m. We will meet at the Civic League building.

Bernice Wafer Scott's funeral was held Friday, September 10, at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Hope. Rev. Jessie L. Radford Jr. officiated. She was a good person and a hard working women. She was the wife of Fred Scott.

My husband lost one of his old friends, Henry Dixon, of Rosston. Sorry to hear of his death.

Homecoming will be held at Cana AME Church Sunday, September 19. Rev. Andrew Banks will be the speaker for the afternoon. Rev. Lesley Banks is the pastor.

Our day care center has closed. It was a good thing for working mothers.

The Tidwell family would like to thank Oak Grove for the donation they gave them and also the nice cake Mrs. Purifoy brought to them.

Linnie Leaks King and her nephew, James Johnson, visited George Kendrick last week as did Vester Johnson Todd from Muskegon, Mich.
