James Meeks

James Harvey "Jamie" Meeks, 75, of Delight, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Hot Springs.

He was born on September 15, 1927, in Clark County to Levi (Lee) and Hettie Thomas Meeks.

He was a retired pulpwood hauler. He was a member and trustee of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Okolona. He was also an Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo and Marvin Meeks, and two sisters, Ozell and Ora Lee.

Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Rosie Jean Furlow Meeks of Delight; one son, James Aaron Meeks and Beverly of Delight; one daughter, Coyniel Dixon and Richard of Delight; one sister, Linnell Alexander of Okolona; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 11 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2003, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Okolona, with Rev. Rufus Hatley officiating. Burial was in Harrison Chapel Cemetery in Delight. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Family received friends on Monday, July 7, 2003, prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
