Ila WhipplePublished Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneIla Whipple, 71, of Konawa, Okla., died Monday, June 30, 2003, a Norman, Okla. Hospital. She was born December 30, 1931, in Sutton to Charles Vernon Garrett and Lillie Faye Gentry Garrett. She graduated from Cale High School and from Dalton Business College in Lawton. She moved to Vamoosa, Okla., in 1965 and returned to Konawa in 1995 from Texarkana. She was a homemaker. She married Rev. Maynard H. Whipple on December 16, 1950, in Lawton. She attended Oak Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Maynard Whipple of Konawa; two sons, David Whipple of Konawa, and Craig Whipple and Peni of Ada, Okla.; one daughter, Harriett Hudson and Art of Konawa; one brother, Charles Garrett of Texarkana; one sister, Bobbie Taylor of Texarkana; six grandchildren, Gloria Reynolds of Sherman, Okla., Laurie Hudson of Jenks, Okla., Karla Davis and Keith of Sasakwa, Okla., Artie Hudson and Emily of Konawa, Janesa and Kimberli Whipple of Ada; and three great-grandchildren, Derick Reynolds of Sherman, Cole Davis of Sasakwa, and Anna Grace Hudson of Konawa. Bearers were Rick Stettler, Claude Miller, Ron Carson, Keith Davis, Justin Carson, and Artie Hudson. Honorary bearers were: Dennis Story and Bill Timothy. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Oak Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Burrows and Ray Talbott officiating. Interment was in Vamoosa Cemetery in Vamoosa, Okla.
