Blanche PurifoyPublished Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in the Gurdon TimesBlanche Pauline Purifoy, 77, of Mena, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Farmington. Mrs. Purifoy was born November 5, 1925, in Curtis, to the late Paul S. Smith and the late Evie Holloway Smith. On December 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to the late Elbert Victor Purifoy. Mrs. Purifoy was a lunch room cook for the Gurdon Public Schools for many years before retiring in Mena. She was a member of the Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God. She is survived by: one son, David and his wife, Kay Purifoy of Farmington; one sister, Milrene and her husband, Jesse Edwards of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Jon and his wife, Amy Purifoy of Jefferson, Texas, Keith and his wife, Meredith Purifoy of Prairie Grove, and Hannah and her husband, Chad Bradley of Henderson, Texas; great-grandchildren, Paige, Baylee, Natalie, Kaylee, Cole, Kale, and Brooke; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 2, in the Union mission Pentecostal Church of God with Bro. Joey Pittman officiating. Graveside services were held July 3, in the Harts Chapel Cemetery in Curtis, with Keith Purifoy officiating.
