Luther HarrisPublished Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneLuther B. Harris, 89, of Oakland, Calif., died Monday, June 16, 2003, in a hospital in California. Luther was born November 21, 1913, in Prescott to the parentage of the late Daniel Harris and Elizabeth Jackson Harris. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Richmond, Calif. Luther was a retired foreman for California State Highway Department. Left to cherish his memories: his wife, Amanda Kirby Harris of Oakland.; three sons, Robert Harris, Daniel Harris and Earl Harris all of Oakland; three daughters, Dorothy Cook and Doris Washington both of San Francisco, Calif.; and Eloise Steward of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Prescott, with Rev. Robert Hood, pastor, officiating.
