Riley Vickers

Riley William Vickers, 85, of Hope, died June 21, 2003, at a local hospital.

He was a retired foreman for the Hempstead County Road Department.

He was born June 5, 1918, in Buckner. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope. He was the son of K.V. and Ruby Teague Vickers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Maidel Dain Vickers.

Survivors include: one son, John Williams Vickers of Hope; three daughters, Margie Vickers of Hope, Brenda Steed of Laneburg, and Betty Stevenson of Hope; one brother, Billy Troy Vickers of Magnolia; seven sisters, Mae Powell, Lorene Massey, Jo Ann Bradley, and Martha Burton, all of Magnolia; Maxine Coleman of Pine Bluff, Syble Hodnett of Stamps, and Mary Smallwood of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Brian Steed of Murphy, Texas, Melanie Steed Dye of Little Rock, John Wesley Stevenson of Hope and Molly Maidel Vickers of Hope; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Dye, Colin Dye, Hayden Steed, and Lily Beth Steed; very special friends, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ray Bowman and Larry Ott officiating. Interment followed in Huckabee Cemetery.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2003, at Herndon Funeral Home.
