RosstonPublished Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams The Easter sunrise service was well attended Sunday morning at 7:00. We had it outside even though the sun wasn't shining. Bro. Petie did a good job with the sermon. Afterward most everyone who attended had a delicious breakfast in the fellowship hall. Bro. Petie, Laura and P.J. went to Serepta, La., to be in service with Laura's parents, Bro. Gordon and Kay Rodgers. Joey and Ellen went to Magnolia where they used to attend church to hear Bro. Jim Sayers. Lyn Dean, Ted and Amy Morman went to Prescott to attend church with Wendy and her family. The Max Alan Mormans are sporting a new Ford pickup. The Van O'Keefes were guests of Valeria O'Keefe and the Butlers of Prescott during the holidays. We are saddened by the death of granddaughter Tori's brother-in-law, Joe Rocole. He was killed in a truck wreck near Magnolia on Friday night. He was the son of Donnie and Norma Rocole of Prescott. Donnie is the REA service man in the vicinity. Services were at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott and his body will be carried to Jasper for service and burial there. We extend sympathy to this family. Charles and Jo Ann Caldwell have been vacationing in Hot Springs and they drove to Rosston for the 11:00 a.m. service, which we didn't have. It was good to hear from them. Roscoe and I came home on Tuesday from Lake Ouachita, where Roscoe had been for over a week. We camped with Doug, Rhonda and Lindsey Morgan of Camden and other couples. We did okay, but fishing will be better after Easter when the water gets warmer. We had two big fish suppers and lots of good fellowship. The A.B. Lucks spent most of two weeks on DeGray Lake and they report a good time and a few fish. Tommie Lew Jarvis has been visiting daughter Pat in Houston, where she also has a doctor's appointment. She got a pretty good report. Ted and Amy Morman spent spring break in Pine Bluff with their mother, but they were sick while there. There were graveside services for Ethel Denham at Rosston Cemetery last Monday. She was in a nursing home in Memphis, but they lived in Rosston many years. Gerald and Ethel had a skating rink here at one time. I'm sure Iva Jarvis, Lyn Dean Morman, myself and other young mothers remember learning to skate, but we lost the knees of several pairs of jeans learning. Roscoe and I had part of our family for lunch Sunday. Some had to work. Great grandson, Tyler, stayed to visit us a few days. He had spent a couple nights in Prescott with grandparents, Ralph and Belinda McKinnon, and attended the egg hunt on the courthouse lawn. Ila Carpenter had her granddaughter Allison of Dallas as guest on Friday night. On Saturday they traveled to West Monroe, La., to be with Ila's daughter, Alice, for the holiday. I celebrated another birthday this week. I still have birthdays, but have quit counting them. We had supper with Bill and Pat Lusby on Friday night at Woods in Camden. I hope everyone has enjoyed the dogwoods as much as I have. Sympathy to the family of Edna Kelley's sister in Arkadelphia. Her husband passed away this week. Funeral will be there tomorrow.
