Walter Hargis

Mr. Walter Wade Hargis, 31, from Hope, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Hempstead County in an automobile accident.

He was born May 4, 1972, in Hope, to Walter Merlin, Jr. and Saundra Winemiller Hargis.

He was an EMT with Nevada County Ambulance Service in Prescott and a licensed Mortician. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope. He was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts, member of Phi Lamda Chi of Southern Arkansas University (SAU), and co-chairman of the Southwest District Rodeo.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mutt Hargis, Sr. and by his maternal grandfather, J.C. Winemiller.

His survivors include: his wife, Dana Messer Hargis of Hope; one son, Kaden Drake Hargis of Hope; his parents, Junior and Saundra Hargis of Hope; one sister, Wendy Cavaneau and Nick of Benton; paternal grandmother, Lonnie Hargis Osburn of Hope; maternal grandmother, Vonciel Winemiller of Hope; and a special friend, Chance DeRouen of Arkadelphia.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Pollan officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends, Monday, May 19, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
