John JordanPublished Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. John Bill Jordan, 90, of Hope died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. He was born September 21, 1912, in Nevada County to Andy and Lizzie Stroud Jordan. He was a retired poultry farmer and former owner/operator of Jordan's Body Shop in Hope. He was the oldest member of Unity Baptist Church in Hope and deacon there for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Lee Mitchell Jordan; two brothers, Carl and Raymond Jordan; and two sisters, Inez Easterling and Pearl Ellis. His survivors include: his wife, Esther Stuart Jordan of Hope; two sons, Weaver Jordan of Seattle, Washington and Charles Ray Jordan of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Shirley White of Dayton, Texas; two sister-in-laws, Hazel Jordan of Hope and Helen Mitchell of Texarkana, Arkansas; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. I.V. Hight officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church , Building Fund, 402 S. Hervey St., Hope 71801.
