Jack ToombsPublished Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in the Gurdon TimesJack James Toombs, 82, of Gurdon, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003. Mr. Toombs worked in the shipping department for Reynolds Metals, was an Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of the Beech Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Iris Toombs of Gurdon; his daughter, Jacque Freeze McElhaney of Mt. Vernon, Texas; his step-brother, Lloyd Tete' Newton of Gurdon; three grandchildren, Mark Edds, Robyn Gross, and Robert Freeze; and three great-grandchildren, Myranda, Chance, and Chase Gross. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia. Graveside services were held Thursday, May 8, at Rose Hedge Cemetery with Bro. Rick Pyron, officiating. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon.
