Julius Johnson

Julius "Jake" Johnson, 73, of Arkadelphia, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1930 in Nevada Co., the son of the late George Thurman and Daisy Smart Johnson.

He owned and operated the OK Barber Shop and was a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife: Virginia Barfield Johnson; one son, Stan Johnson and his wife, Jan of Arkadelphia; one daughter, Judy and her husband, Gary Buller of Benton; two sisters, Lorice Cash of Rye and Lucille Rogers of Hope; three grandchildren, Patrick Grainger of Benton, and Gracie and J.J. Johnson of Arkadelphia.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003, in the South Fork Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hargett officiating. Interment under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
