Williams Hayes

William E. Billy' Hayes, 51, of Madison, Wisc. and formerly of Gurdon, died suddenly Friday, April 4, 2003, from injuries he suffered in an automobile accident.

Mr. Hayes was born in Gurdon, August 10, 1951, the son of Maceo Herbert Hayes and Florine Lock. Billy was a compassionate advocate for his fellow man. He demonstrated this through his numerous jobs and personal commitments.

Survivors include four sons, Giovanni Hayes of Milwaukee, Wisc., Craig Weatherby, Rachmaan Weatherby, and Prince Hayes, all of Madison, Wisc.; eight grandchildren, Nijah Newson, Jevon Hayes, Jalen A. Hayes, Skylah Gordee, Tiana Weatherby; his parents, Maceo Herbert Hayes of Los Angeles, Calif., and Florine Norman of Milwaukee, Wisc.; nine siblings, Cheryl Lock, Sharon Lock, Earlene Lock, Pamela Olive, Jeffrey Lock, Kenrick Norman, and Cecilia Norman; an aunt, Ruth Sue Morgan; two uncles, James (Kathleen) Lock, and Eldridge (Naomi) Lock; 24 foster children, including Justin, Micheal, Vernon, LaKesha, Tyrone, and Eugene; three former wives, Andrea Easley, Willie Hayes, and Annie Weatherby; and numerous friends including his posse, Bobby, Robert, Doug, Otis, and Janie; and his special friend, Bernadine.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Crayton and James Tony Lock; three uncles, Tyree Lock, Hazor Lock, and Fred Hayes; and his grandparents, Fred Hayes, Ona Wilson, and Frank and Pattie Lock.

Funeral services were held in Madison, Wisc., Wednesday, April 9, at the Faith Community Baptist Church, with Rev. David A. Smith, Sr. presiding. Services were also held in Milwaukee, Wisc. Thursday, April 10, at Krause Funeral Home. Burial followed the service in Union Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisc. Arrangements were made by Cress Funeral Service of Milwaukee, Wisc.
