Edith BensonPublished Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in the Gurdon TimesEdith Gertrude Graham Benson of Curtis passed away April 16, 2003, in Arkadelphia. Mrs. Benson was born on Sept. 7, 1912, in Sidon, to Daniel Webster and Addie Smith Graham. She attended Curtis Assembly of God Church. She was a kind and generous person who loved her flowers and garden. She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Melvin Francis Benson; brothers, Nathan, Luther, Cecil, Martin and Freddie Graham and Vernon Bynum; sisters: Ruby Moye and Ruth Smith. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Wynona and Darrell Gray and Melba and Harold Drennan, Pearland, Texas, Carolyn and Charles Woolf, Gurdon, Don and Nancy Benson, Roanoke, Va. Grandchildren and their spouses: Russell and Jill Drennan, Pearland, Texas, Kyle and Greta Drennan, Bryan and Stephanie Drennan, Diana Melton, all of Houston, Texas, Sharon and Ken Brown, and Teresa and Ben Hasty, Friendswood, Texas, Donna and David Smith, Prescott, Barry and Julie Woolf, and Charla Renfro of Gurdon, Cheryl and Bret Renfro, of De Queen, Pamela and James Parker, of Baltimore, Md., Susan and Rob Anderson, of Ladson, S.C., Audrey and Ben Hester, of Roanoke, Va. great-grandchildren: Erica and Chase Gilbert, Danielle Melton, Amanda and Emily Hughes, Damon Hasty, Lindsey and Blake Stratton, Brittany, William and Daniel Drennan, Jamie, Alye, Alex Smith, Jack and Jesi Woolf, Regan, Bret Ashton, Tyler and Reed Renfro; Matthew and Andrew Parker and Christopher Anderson; sister, Celia Acrey of Curtis; brother, Delton Graham of California; many relatives and friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Rev. Rick Pyron officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be Russ, Kyle, and Bryan Drennan, Barry Woolf, Bret Renfro, David Smith, Bill, Dale, Glen and Jody Acrey. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International or Mission Gurdon.
