James VaughtPublished Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. James Dewan "J.D." Vaught, 66, a resident of Dierks, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana. He was born November 11, 1936, in Bethel, Okla. to Elbert Taft and Emma Beatrice Graves Vaught. He was a logging contractor for Potlatch Lumber Company, an Army veteran and a Baptist. Mr. Vaught was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel Vaught and Bobby Jack Vaught. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Jones Vaught of Dierks; three daughters, Carina Tolleson of Kirby, Tammy Hill of Bryant, and Beverly Joe of Hot Springs; one step-son, Jamie Vinyard of Dierks; two sisters, Mary Louise Cook of Kirby, and Glenda Lovelace of St. Crois, Virgin Islands; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Vaught were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in the Langley Hall with Rev. Kyle Cowart officiating. Burial followed in the Langley Hall Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks. Memorials may be made to Log-A-Load fro Kids for Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock 72202.
