Tempers JeffersonPublished Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneBro. Tempers "T.P." Jefferson was born Sept. 14, 1901, in Chidester to the late Sam and Octavia Jefferson. He was a member of the Rosston Road Church of Christ where he remained until his health failed. Bro. Jefferson was a construction worker, a logger, and a very hard working man. He was a family man who believed in loving and caring for his family. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Lillie McCree, and to this union two children were born, Joseph and Versene. Later he was married to the late Georgia Sockwell, and to this union, two children were born who both preceded him in death, Fannie and Lucille. In 1949, Bro. Jefferson was married to the late Reatha Mae Blair. To this union six children were born, Robert, Joyce Claudia, Lenard, Matt, and Linda. Also preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Carl Penny; four grandchildren, and five sisters. Bro. Jefferson departed this life on April 1, 2003 at 4 a.m. at the Ouachita Nursing and Rehab Center at Camden. He leaves to cherish his precious memories nine loving and devoted children: Joseph (Charlene) Jefferson of Chidester, Versene Lindsey of Camden, James Williams of Detroit, Mich., Robert (Arnette) Jefferson of Stephens, Joyce Fricks fo Prescott, Claudia (Earl) Green of Stephens, Lenard (Anita) Jefferson of Camden, Matt (Dale) Thomas of Gurdon, Linda Penny of Camden; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Henry L. Williams and Supt. John E. Wheeler, both of Milwaukee, Wis., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
