Eula Hughes

Eula Mae "Peggy" Hughes was born November 7, 1925, in Prescott and passed away March 14, 2003, in Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William O. Hughes; her parents, Oscar and Abbie Montgomery; and sister Lois Marie Montgomery.

She is survived by one daughter and former son-in-law, Marjorie Adair and Kenneth Russell; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim M. and Leslie Hughes; one grandson, Timothy William Hughes; one granddaughter and husband, Abigail Elizabeth and Eric Smith; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Adair Smith all of Houston, Texas and one brother and sister-in-law Earl B. and June Montgomery of Longview, Texas.

Peggy graduated from Blevins High School in Blevins in 1943 before obtaining nursing training in Little Rock. She provided a loving home for her children and husband as he pursued a career with The Halliburton Company in Cuba, Libya, Greece and Australia before finally settling in Houston in 1967. She then accepted a secretarial position with the University of Texas Dental School, Texas Medical Center and retired in 1992. She was a loving wife, a caring mother, a Christian and was deeply respected by her many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., March 27, 2003, in The Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home Chapel with the Shawn Jones officiating. The family will receive friends in the Chapel from 6-8 p.m., March 26, 2003.

The family will receive friends in the Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, Arkansas from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, March 28, 2003. Funeral services will follow on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., March 29, 2003, in the Sweet Home Church with the Reverend Jerry Westmoreland officiating, with interment to follow at Sweet Home Cemetery. The Sweet Home Church is locate on Highway 371 six miles east of Blevins.
