Reactions to this week's winter weather may vary depending on who was doing the talking.

As the threat of winter weather became an issue on Monday people started preparing.

Printing times were moved up for the Times in order to prevent a delay.

Sexton Foods had lines of people stocking up on the usual supplies (milk, eggs, bread, etc.), and police started watching the skies to see what was taking place.

School children waited to see if the weatherman's predictions were going to pull through and school be cancelled.

It was late when the sleet started to fall Monday night. However, it did not take long for roads and streets to become slick.

Gurdon Police Officers scrambled to work several accidents where motorists didn't realize how treacherous the roads had gotten so quickly. Officers also reported on road conditions throughout the night.

School was cancelled for Gurdon and the surrounding areas as well as Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University and remained closed through Thursday.

Sleet and freezing rain, added to the already slushy road conditions in Clark County Tuesday night. But warmer temperatures came through on Wednesday melting some of the ice, but re-freezing that night.

Thursday's temperature was around 33 degrees at 8:30 a.m. this helping with melting the remainder of the ice and helping people return their lives to normal.

By Thursday morning Interstate 30 was reported to be in better condition. There were still some slushy spots, but the pavement was mostly clear. Some of the county roads, however, may remain icy a little longer. Highway, street and road crews continued to spread salt and sand on area roadways.
