Homer GainesPublished Wednesday, February 26, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Homer Chatman Gaines, 84, of Hope, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. He was born May 1, 1918, in Pendergrass, Georgia to Clifford C. and Mary Clifford Shirley Gaines. He was a retired welder with Cox Brothers Foundry of Hope fro 33 years. He was a member of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church of Hope, a fisherman, bowler, and motorcyclist and a member of the C.C.C. Camps of Oregon. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde and three sisters, Corine, Mamie and Lillie. His survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Bessie Bradshaw Gaines of Hope; three daughters, Barbara Cole of De Queen, Linda Burke and Larry of Hope, and Mary Stutler of Hope; one sister, Nell Browning of Fort Worth, Tex.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: LeeAnne Hairr of Texarkana, Karen Michaud with Jeremy and Lundon Michaud of De Queen Michael Michaud and Lisa with Jessica and Lane of Norfolk, Va., Casey Atkison and Shawn with Allie and Alex of Conway and Bryan Burke of Conway. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Jim Sayers and Rev. Ricky Burke officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
