Bess Daniel

Mrs. Bess Whyte Daniel, 91, of Laneburg, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Camden, February 6, 1912, graduated from Camden High School and was a longtime resident of Little Rock.

For many years Mrs. Daniel had owned and operated Daniel Printing and Lithography on Seventh Street in Little Rock until retiring with her husband in 1965 to the Laneburg community. For almost 40 years she thrived in this rural farm setting which for her was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edgar R. Daniel in 1989, and by her parents, Alonzo and Sally Whyte of Camden, and her brother Alonzo (Son) Whyte of McGhee.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy W. Fisher of San Mateo, Calif.; two sons, Ed Daniel of Little Rock and Thom Daniel and wife, Gail of the Laneburg address; a daughter, Evelyn Gauthier Wilson of Prescott; four grandchildren, Ed Daniel IV of Little Rock, Dian Le Mustacci of Cabot, Cheryl Gauthier of Little Rock, and Michelle Glass of Prescott; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003, at the Laneburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Laneburg, with Jerry Wilson officiating. Arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Memorials should be made to the Laneburg Cemetery Association Perpetual Fund c/o Postmaster, Laneburg, AR.
