Robert PolkPublished Wednesday, February 12, 2003 in the Gurdon TimesMr. Robert Lee Polk, 76, of Waldo, died Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia. He was born April 21, 1926, in Emmet, to John C. Polk, Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Herndon Polk. He was a cattle farmer, a carpenter, and former employee of Charles Jones Asphalt Co. of Magnolia. He was a deacon and member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Waldo. He was also an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Jr., Charles, and Harold Polk. Survivors are: one sister, Fern Polk of Waldo. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2003, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Waldo, with Rev. Larry Miller and Rev. Hershel Shackelford officiating.
