Alberta HamiltonPublished Wednesday, February 12, 2003 in the Nevada County PicayuneAlberta Hamilton centered her life activities around her church, family and friends. She was a kind, devoted and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a special way of showing her love for people. She was born on April 22, 1905, in Summerfield, La., to the late Madison and Sarah Brown Turner. The sweet spirit of our beloved went to join the Savior on the morning of January 26, 2003. On December 26, 1926, she was joined in holy matrimony to Hosea Hamilton in the Boughton Community. To this union, two children were born: one son, Benjamin Grant Hamilton, who preceded her in death, and one daughter, Freddie Mae Hamilton. She accepted Christ as her forgiving Savior at an early age. She was committed to her relationship to Jesus Christ and loyal to her church family. Cothran Chapel Church gained a faithful and dedicated member when "Sister Alberta" united in fellowship with this congregation. At Cothran, she served as president of the Missionary Society for many years. Many children of the community remember "Sister Alberta" as their first Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Stewardess Board. She was also an active community worker participating in Home Extension Clubs and Garden Clubs and served loyally in the initial formulating of the Upchurch Community Center. Left to celebrate and cherish her life on this earth are one daughter, Freddie Mae Hamilton of Prescott; four grandchildren, LaDonna Stueart and LaToya Hamilton both of Prescott; LaShelle Hamilton of Green Cover Springs, Fla. and Benjamin David Hamilton of Lithonia, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, Luther Paul, Daloris Stueart and Alex and Rontarious Hamilton of Prescott, Nashea Goetzendanner of Fla., LaKeisha and Jalessa Hamilton of Ga; the mother of the grandchildren, Anna S. Hamilton Fontana; one god-grandson, Daryl Roberts of Arlington, Tex.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Services were January 30, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at the Cothran Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Prescott, Sister Annie Hubbard Pastor, officiating was Rev. Dr. Cledis Stuart.
