Maxine Cox

Maxine Dye Cox, 98, of Gallatin, Tenn., died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cox was born Dec. 5, 1904, in Fountain Head, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late William Beeler Dye and Cora Fulgum Dye.

She was precede in death by her husband, Gordon Felix Cox; son, Max Gordon Cox; brothers, Beeler Dye, Jr., Howard Dye and Duvak Dye; and sister, Gladys Hill.

She was a member of the Gallatin Church of Christ, Retired Teachers Association, Clark Chapter #13 UDC, Jethro Sumner Chapter DAR, Gallatin Business and Professional Women's Club, Crossroads FCE Club and Bethpage Chapter #5 OES. She taught school in Boughton and Cecil in Nevada County, Wilder School, Jameston, and Vera Stuart and Guild Elementary, Gallatin, Tenn.

She is survived by sons, Dr. David Cox and wife, Jane; John Frisby Cox and wife, Faye, both of Gallatin, Tenn.; sisters, Jewell Bandy of Starkville, Miss. and Ruth Ward of Sebring, Fla/; brother, Buford Dye of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Pam Cox, Mollie Williams and husband Rick, John David Cox and wife Jessica, Gordon Cox, Jennifer, Krystal and Joel Cox; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lill Cox Caldwell of Galveston, Texas and Corinne Cox Stevenson of Jonesboro.
