Lewis Cornelius

Mr. Lewis M. Cornelius, 84, of Prescott, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born June 22, 1918, in Nevada County, to Claude M. "Jake" and Addie Pearl Graham Cornelius.

He was a former and a retired forester and logger.

He was a deacon, member and Sunday School Teacher of Missionary Grove Baptist Church of the Nubbin Hill Community; 32nd degree Mason; a Schriner; and former Justice of the Peace of Nevada County. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Blevins Cornelius, who died September 17, 2001, and by three brothers, Ray, Roy and Claude Cornelius; and by two sisters, Helen and Zula Cornelius; and by one grandson, Dan Ridling.

His survivors include: two sons, Jim Cornelius and Tom Cornelius both of Prescott; three daughters, Judy Mattews of Jacksonville, Jo Ridling and Donna Carter both of Prescott; one sister, Pearl Payne of Prescott; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 21, 2003, Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dexter Blevins, Rev. Neal Ridling, and Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial followed in Missionary Grove Cemetery, Nubbin Hill Community in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
