CaneyRuby WickerPublished Wednesday, September 15, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune We had a nice rain, according to my rain gauge . We have had seven tenths of an inch rain up to this time. It was a good slow rain and we were proud to get it. We were proud to have Mt. Zion Church from Cale at Morris for Sunday evening service. Bro. Trey Harrison, pastor at Cale, baptized Jackie Smith and brought the evening message. Bro. Novel McAteer and Lorena were house guests of Lucy Glass Sunday night of last week. Friends and relatives of Betty Wicker Smith will be interested to know her husband, Laddie, suffered a stroke last week. At the time he was receiving cancer treatment. He remains partially paralyzed at this time. My daughter, Amy Sweat, from McCaskill and children, Chris and wife, Denis Sweat, from Hopper, Don and Janice Callicott, Cannon and Heather Callicott, visited me Saturday and had supper with me. Bro. Junior and Ann visited their children in Camden Saturday. Margie Reed and I ate at Woods in Camden Sunday. Don and Peggy Fain were there. We had a nice visit with them. Junior and Ann's granddaughter, Sara Jane Bradshaw, works there and we always enjoy seeing her. We were glad to have Mike Cross back in church Sunday. Mike has been absent some, because of the illness of his father. Thought: Trouble with life in the fast lane, you get to the end in a hurry.
